The City of Alabaster provides recycling and garbage services to City residents. Garbage and recycling are picked up on the same day.

What to Throw Away

Residential household trash exclusive of items identified below as natural yard debris and junk. The City will not knowingly dispose of these items even if they are within a provided container.

What to Recycle

​We can only recycle what the Recycling Company allows us to recycle.  The following is a listing of the approved items for us to deliver to the recycling facility.

Note: For issues dealing with garbage or recycling or uncertain of route service day, you may contact the City of Alabaster Public Works at 205-664-6810 or use our Report A Concern Service. (Our Report a Concern service is the best way to contact the Public Works Department)

Garbage Service Holiday Schedule

  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
If a holiday falls on a service day, all remaining days of the week will shift. For instance if holiday is on Tuesday, then Tuesday will be retrieved Wednesday, etc.
