Are You Up for The Challenge?
Make a Splash during our Summer Challenge and go from being a Reading Challenger to a Reading Champion!
Your family can help! Here are the rules:
Have F U N! The Summer Challenge is for all kids whether or not they can read. Pre-literate children can be read to.
All books must be checked out from the Albert L. Scott Library. Books on school summer reading lists can count during The Challenge as long as they are checked out from our Library.
Registration begins Monday, June 2nd when we kickoff The Challenge.
Each child registers individually to become a Reading Challenger. The last day to register is Wednesday, July 9th.
At registration, decide how many books you'll read. That is your goal. As a Reading Challenger, show your reading log to a staff member who records your progress and gives you a prize. The earliest that prizes will be given is Monday, June 7th.
When you reach your goal you become a Reading Champion because you have completed The Challenge. You'll be awarded a Certificate. You may then enter the Read & Ride contest to try to win a new bicycle and helmet courtesy of Bike Link. One entry per child. Last day to enter is July 13th. The drawing will take place during the Celebration Finale on Wednesday, July 14th at 11:45 a.m. outside the mobile unit. Summer Challenge participants whose names are pulled during the prize drawings must be present to claim their prize. Winners cannot be represented by siblings, parents, other relatives or friends.
Some of the special programs, entertainment and activities offered in June and July may require an age limit or participation limit as indicated on the calendar, signs and/or sign up sheets.
Last day to get prizes is Friday, July 16th. Last day to get Certificates is Friday, July 30th.
