Camellia Net Downloadable Books

Downloadable Books!

The Albert L. Scott Public Library has joined with other libraries around Alabama to access books through Overdrive.com.

In honor of the beautiful State flower this shared collection is called:

Click on the picture above to go straight to Camellia Net's sign in for the Albert L. Scott Library in Alabaster. Note: You will probably need to sign in a second time to download books. You may wish to skip the first sign-in.

Since we share our library cards throughout the county, it is possible for you to log in under Harrision Regional Library or the Pelham Library. Note that your bookshelf and holds from one library will not show under another library's account! Use Albert L. Scott as your selection each time you log in to avoid problems with not seeing your bookshelf or your holds!

The link you access by clicking the picture above will take you to Alabaster's Albert L. Scott Library sign in screen.

Camellia Net contains:

  • Audio Books (A digital format of "book-on-tape" or "book-on-cd")
  • Digital Books (A printed book in a digital form, like reading an E-mail is similar to regular mail, this is an E-Book!)
  • Digital Music files
  • Programs to access these items. These programs install on your computer and are free to use.

Camellia Net allows you to:

  • "Check Out" materials like you would in a library. You can even place holds if someone else already has the item "checked out"
  • Download available E-books and audio books to a computer
  • Transfer some content to devices, like an E-book reader or MP3 Player
  • Copy some content by "burning" to CD or DVD if your computer has the ability to burn discs
  • Directly transfer files to some iPhone and Android digital devices.

Formats available on Camellia Net

  • MP3 audio files (One of the most common types of audio file)
  • WMA audio files (Microsofts Windows Media file, similar to the MP3 but works with different programs)
  • Adobe EPUB E-book files. (Digital versions of a text you can read on your computer or E-book reader using Adobe software. Note that some E-book readers won't work with EPUB)
  • Kindle Format books are now available! When downloading these books to your Kindle Reader you need to use your USB connection or any Wi-Fi. (You can change from Whispernet to wireless under settings. Any library books downloaded previously through Amazon will then function.)
  • Adobe PDF files. These are used for books with formating that does not allow pages to flow with the text size.
