Ward 7 - Tommy Ryals

Tommy Ryals has lived in Alabaster since 1981. He currently resides in the Windy Oaks subdivision and represents Alabaster's Ward 7. He has been married since 1981 to his wife, Anne. They have two children, Casey, who is in pharmacy school at Auburn, and Zach, who is in engineering at Alabama.  Ryals graduated from Hueytown High School and received a BS degree in Biology/Chemistry from the University of Alabama - Birmingham. He has worked for Alabama Power Company since 1978 and is currently a supervisor in the Environmental Affairs Dept.

He is a charter member of the Windy Oaks Homeowners Assn. and was appointed to the Planning and Zoning board in 1996 where he chaired a committee to re-write the zoning regulations.  Since being elected in 2000, Ryals has served as the Council appointee to the Zoning board, chaired the Sewer committee to build the new sewer plant, served on the committee to properly demolish the old mill, chaired the Industry and Annexation committee, serves on the Economic Development committee, and chairs the Architectural Review committee which oversees the city hall and city center projects.
