Start Smart Programs, created by the National Alliance for Youth Sports, help kids get ready for sports, and succeed in life. It is a step-by-step approach that builds confidence and self-esteem, and makes sports fun.
The Start Smart Programs are proven instructional programs that prepare children, ages 3-4, for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parents work together with their children in a supportive environment to learn all of the basic skills. Start Smart teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized sports while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents.
Each program consists of six one-hour sessions. Sessions are once a week.
All necessary equipment is provided, along with a t-shirt and participation medallion. At the end of the program, there will be scrimmages offered for anyone who would like to participate. We will also have a party to celebrate the completion of the program.
Alabaster Parks and Recreation offers one Start Smart Baseball in the Spring. Space is limited to ensure that each child receives the attention and assistance they need; so, register early!
