Overview of Start Smart Program (Ages 3 & 4)

  • Start Smart Programs, created by the National Alliance for Youth Sports, help kids get ready for sports, and succeed in life. It is a step-by-step approach that builds confidence and self-esteem, and makes sports fun.
  • The Start Smart Programs are proven instructional programs that prepare children, ages 3-4, for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parents work together with their children in a supportive environment to learn all of the basic skills. Start Smart teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized sports while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents.
  • Each program consists of six one-hour sessions. Sessions are once a week.
  • All necessary equipment is provided, along with a t-shirt and participation medallion. At the end of the program, there will be scrimmages offered for anyone who would like to participate. We will also have a party to celebrate the completion of the program.
  • Alabaster Parks and Recreation offers one Start Smart Baseball in the Spring. Space is limited to ensure that each child receives the attention and assistance they need; so, register early!
