School Resource Officer Program

The School Resource Officer (SRO) Program at the Alabaster Police Department is dedicated to fostering safe and supportive learning environments in partnership with Alabaster City Schools. Our SROs are experienced officers specially trained to work with students, educators, and parents to promote safety, address concerns, and build positive relationships.

What We Do:

  • Safety and Security: SROs work to maintain a safe and secure school environment. They are a visible presence on campus, deterring potential threats and responding swiftly to any incidents.

  • Mentoring and Education: Our SROs engage with students through mentorship programs, classroom presentations, and community outreach. They educate students on important topics such as bullying prevention, substance abuse awareness, and internet safety.

  • Conflict Resolution: SROs are skilled at mediating conflicts among students, promoting restorative justice, and helping students develop conflict resolution skills.

  • Community Engagement: Building trust within the school community is a top priority. SROs collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to address concerns and ensure a safe and welcoming educational environment.

  • Crisis Response: In times of crisis, SROs are well-prepared to provide immediate assistance and support. Their training includes responding to emergencies and working in coordination with school staff to protect students and staff.

The School Resource Officer Program exemplifies our commitment to the well-being of the next generation. By fostering positive relationships, promoting safety, and providing guidance, our SROs contribute to the development of responsible, informed, and empowered young citizens in Alabaster.
