Big Whiskey's restaurant now open in South Promenade


A new Big Whiskey's restaurant opened in September 2025 in the South Promenade shopping center! Extensive renovation work was completed on the former O'Charley's building to transform it into the new Big Whiskey's location. The city's Downtown Redevelopment Authority approved a facade grant earlier this year to assist with this major renovation project.

Shoppes at District 31

New hotels under construction


Multiple new hotels are coming off Balmoral Drive near the Promenade shopping center. A new Fairfield Inn/TownePlace Suites is currently under construction, and will join the existing Holiday Inn Express, Candlewood Suites and the soon-to-be-constructed Hampton Inn and Suites/Home2 Suites. We appreciate the continued investment in Alabaster!

Construction continuing on District 31


Construction is moving along great on the Shoppes at District 31 along U.S. 31! The District 31 and Shoppes at District 31 retail developments will be in northwest quadrant of U.S. 31 and Interstate 65, and will bring approximately 600,000 square feet of new retail, restaurant and hotel space to Alabaster.
